scrambler plug wire
#1
my friends 99 scrambler plug wire keeps falling off. is it hard to put a new end on it? its very loose. also when you first try and put it in reverse it wants to die unless you hold the override in. any thoughts

it could be that its not getting good contact so its misfiring in the cap it self. im not sure w/out looking at it but most caps are just kinda or srewed on and off so you could buy an ngk plug cap and srew it back on to the plug wire. i also would check to see if the wire is in good condtion and not pulling out of coil.

i do alot of plug checks and I can tell you the caps just don;t last. I seem to replace one a year there only like 1.95 so no big deal, this and the bushing for the pull start I have made part of my maintenance.
HPD has a cap they list to only go with there upgraded ignition but I have had another forum member advise me it does work with the stock ignition. It has a clip to hold the plug on.

i highly suggest you the hpd wire that came with their ignition upgrade kit,,you can buy it seperatly as well, really worth the money,it is kinda like a msd type wire without the sign on it,,i do alot of test too and that one fit tight and very well on ngk spark plug,,just spray a little of electrical cleaner once a while through it and will even fix better then...
