Default 800 radiator

as you all know i resently had an hot warning light come on several times w/ no overheat and the dealer said he couldnt find any problem. well yesterday i decided to do some checking as they said they cleaned the edges of my rad. well first of all they didnt put the damn thing back together right(big surpise) so i was a little pissed about it. anyways i took my air hose and set down and began to clean the dirt and dust out. mean while 15 minutes later i was shocked at how much dirt and dust was in the raditor. its deeped then it looks. so any ways when they said they cleaned it now i really have to laugh. but i learned something about how really clean i've been getting this. it was by no means clogged to make it over heat, but still was not preforming like it should. oh yea almost forgot went about 25 to 30 miles and no hot warning go figue.

You may have seen me preachin’ this before but 2-3 times a year pull your fan and fan shroud and clean your radiator from the back. Each has only four bolts (total of 8) all 10mm heads and easy to get at. It takes me longer to jack the quad up and remove the front tires that it does to get the fan and shroud out. It’s well worth the effort.

i just took off the front gaurd screen and have instant access to the whole rad so i can blow it out and works pretty good. even went the fan to blow back thru to make ssure it was cleaning and it was.

You will never get it completely clean with it still in the machine. Test yourself. Clean it as good as you can, then pull it out of the machine and let it soak in the bath tub or other big container. You will believe me then.

radiators are air-to-water heat exchangers so the surfaces on BOTH sides [ie air and water] need to be clean as possible to get max performance, but as I have said here before my rad was totally clogged with mud when I bought the ATV [well maybe top 3 inches still OK] and engine is fine, AND it lives in tropics

That tells me Polaris has used a huge Factor of Safety in their design, so I am sorta happy that as long as I keep the level correct I wont blow up engine [but I still have put in a temp gauge, just to be sure, to be sure as they say in Ireland]
