trailblazer ticking?????
Ok, bought a used trailblazer 97 and found that the piston skirt was broken, I tore it down and replaced the piston and was able to just have the cylinder honed. I sucked out the broken pieces that were left and then wash out the case with cleaner, (but I didn't split the case) then oiled the bearings and crank right back up with 2-cycle oil. After getting the motor back to gether, and cleaning carb and everything else, I finally started the motor. It fired right up, but now at idle it makes a ticking noise and when you slightly rev it it ticks faster untill you really rev it up then you don't hear it till it slows back down. I used to own a trail boss 250 bout 8 years ago, so I don't really remember if my other one did this, but I don't think it is normal. Any Ideas???????? Can the oil pump tick? could the pump have gotten some shavings in it? What do You need to do to block off the oil pump if that is the problem? I was pretty sure that I got all the shavings out, I even shined a light in the case. Could maybe my starter gear be having problems? Hope someone has an idea or two??? Thanks, Preston
