I have an 86 TB 250 and when I get going on it, shes louder then crap. They only have one gear right? or am I missiing something? nothing is mod on it as far as I know and she howls - but I figure its normal for a 2 stroke as my boat is plenty loud wide open too...?

I had a 2002 Xplorer 250 4x4 with the 2 stroke. Yep, it was loud. I called it the angry chainsaw. Not only loud but smoky too! Reminded me of my Stihl chainsaw. I used to drive at the back of our group so I didn't make anyone die of smoke inhalation. Sold, it and am making payments on a Sportsman X2. Glad I made the switch. Quieter and not smoky at all.

depends on what the noise is. hard to really tell ya w/out listening to it. could be clutch nise or piston slap, rist pin noise. my 2000 wasnt too bad in the noise department. sounds like a normal 2 stroke.

First thing that came to my mind is an exhaust leak.......either by the cylinder......or where the muffler connection is
