Default '96 Explorer 300 will not start

'96 Explorer 300 will not start. I am not getting any spark at the plug. I tried a new plug but still no spark, and yes I'm grounding the plug to the head. Any suggestions? The plug wire appears to be in good condition and connected securely to the coil. Anyone know how to check the electrical componants and what I am looking for with the meter? Thanks in advance, Doug.

You could check coil to see if it is good or not. Just run a hot wire to the coil wire input and touch and untouch to see if it is firing at plug when this is done.
