On my Sportsman 800 there is a spring connected to the brake pedal that pulls on a pin on the underside of the tranny that allows you to shift. Just remove the spring from the pedal and wire that spring down to the frame somewhere so it is always puled then you can shift without the brake. Clear as mud?

sounds pretty easy. i was thinking about taking the pin out and just putting a bolt in the hole.

I liked my 2004.5 500 with the brake shift better than my new 06 500efi. I do alot of work around my property and use low and reverse alot. It was nice to just push all the way forward for low and all the way back for reverse. Now I have to hunt around for low and reverse. Watch what you ask for, you might not like it.

ill agree with you on findin the gears. i was going into park and high a few times, but i like it much better now that im used to it.
one less step, and with it removed, less parts to clean mud off of.
hehe.
good luck.
