Thanks farmer thats the response I was looking for. Anyway, the dealer told me what happened. The guy (who sold it to the dealer) was riding it with some sport quads (i think banshees and 400exs) when they started to climb a big hill and he tried it and fliped and demolished the front end. The dealer said he bought it off the guy for cheap (about 2 grand) and fixed it (prob for another grand)and is selling it for $3400 and then I am adding the plow which makes it another 300 or so, and then add taxes, its under 4 grand though. I know I am going to go take alook at it but the problem is it is about 2 hours away, and I am only free on weekends. Hope he keeps it until saturday, cause then it will be mine. Thanks farmr.

Yes I know, it just is a difficult decision to make when you are 15 and its cash you have saved up. Dont make a whole lot of money going to school. I am still pretty sure I am going to get it though. Thanks

 

That is odd. I never rode with/against a Banshee head to head yet, but my Xplorer will out hill-climb the dickens out of the 300ex and even a Foreman 425 4x4(or is that 450?) I would assume the driver wasn't up to the challenge more than the machine. With proper body language, I will hillclimb to the point that all 4 wheels spin out without flipping. Of course, when that happens, by the time I get it backed down the hill, I usually need clean pants.

How big of tires can you fit on an xplorer? Also, I thought I read somewhere that the 2001 xplorers have a shaft in the rear? Do you know what a new one(2001) would cost?
The reason I ask is that lately I've done some riding with sport bikes, and have really enjoyed it. It just blows me away the kind of hills these 2WD sport bikes can get up! But it has also made me aware of the fact that the Grizzly is way too heavy a bike to ride like that. I like 4WD though, and I couldn't really think of any 4x4's that would be in the same league as those sport bikes other then an Xplorer. There may be others, I just don't know of any. Anyway, the wheels are turning, if you know what I mean.

Farmr123...I think it depends on the type of hills being climbed also. Give me a slippery mud hill and either one of my quads will whip the Shee from here to kingdom come. But put a steep sand hill in front of us and I would give the advantage to the Shee...

Don't forget about the 2000 Scrambler 400's...still available.

 

The explorer has the same engine as the scrambler 400 the only thing thats different is the frame and the tranmission.

Fill me in? Scrambler 400? Forgive the ignorance. I was just thinking that it would be fun to have a light weight 4x4 for some of the higher speed trail riding that I have recently taking a real liking to. The Grizzly is just too big and heavy for that. So if you would please, tell me alittle about the Scrambler? I don't really like the idea of a 2-stroke, but I don't think I'll be able to find a light weight 4-stroke 4x4 with the same power as the Grizzly. So I figure if I want light weight and still have anywhere near the same power, I'll have to consider a 2-stroke. Of all the Polaris models that I've read anything about on these forums, the Xplorer seems to be the most trouble free. As far as I know, none of the Jap bikes make a 2-stroke 4x4. Thanx
