What cut the sidewall? Do you have aluminum wheels? Is it a straight cut?

i have 2 rips in my xtr's i that i fiex w/ no problems yet and 1 in my wifes pxt's. plugged and slimmed them both. there a way to put a hot patch on the inside to seal the side wall and you could always put a tube in it as well i beleave. just an idear.

I have ran up to 3 plugs in one hole on the sidewall with no problem.AS expensive as tires are try putting some plugs in it and then slime it.If that dont work put a tire patch on it and run a tube.Beats a new tire.

i think im guna do the patch in the inside, do u do it just like a bycicle tire? or those plugs [ my rip is a v shape about half inch across, ALL the dealers say its garbage, u all give me so much hope!]
for the plugs do you just bend them inhalf and stick them in with that tool they come with??? and how hard is it to take the tire off the rim?
thanks alot!

Simon

Default rip in sidewall, the tire is garbage

Been there done that. Alot of it matters what its for. I've plugged several tires for utility quads. I sliced a brand new Holeshot on my very first ride out on my Banshee. I cut about a 3 inch slice in the sidewall and tried everything to fix it, from slime, to patched inside and out, to plugs. I even tried to run a tube in the tire, I got the kind of tube with a threaded valve stem with a nut on it. The first time I got the Banshee in the sand and opened it up it completely pulled the valve stem out of the tube. I spent more money out of being stuborn on fixing that tire than my next new one cost. Good Luck Dennis

i have repaired many sidewall cuts. it is not permanent and must be rebone occasionally but it saves a new tire. first i take a dremmel or die grinder and smooth the area of the slice rough it up and take any lettering down to the carcass level. then get a good thick patch and glue it on and let it set for a while and it holds for some time it just depends on how much abuse it gets. when it starts leaking again repeat above procedure.
