Default 400 or 500 scrambler

Which is better a 400 or a 500 scrambler. What years are best. We bought an 03 500 for my wife and it is a great atv. The only problem is that i need to get one for myself. I ride a cr 500 but i also like her scrambler. I am looking to get another one so I can ride with her on an even level.I know the suspension change around 2000. Any comments would be helpful. Thanks!!

The 03 and earlier have the adjustable fox shock onthe rear which is good. As to whether which is better 400 or 500 is your choice. the 400 is a two stroke and 500 is four stroke. The 400 you can do alot more to make it scream, but you have the problems associated with a two stroke. Which I love two strokes and don't mind dealing with them.

I would say stay with the 500. You can swap parts and maint. will be the same. Try for an 2001 to 2003 500.
