Wow the polaris 800 only has 50 hp. While the predator 500 has 48 . This much hp on such a small machine ,no wonder my sos's predator seems to have tons of power . One would think that an 800 cc engine would produce more than 50 hp. I guess if you were to facture in the weight of an 800 , power drops way down.

different type of engine one revs over ten the other only 6000. and hey if you want to talk horsepower verus cc on a quad the old polaris 400 two-strokes made 36 in a very detuned state. my cr 250 makes 47 hp. my 600 cc crotchrocket makes 100 hp.

Since we're back on this train of thought. I'm curious as to how much horse the 450R, YFZ50, and R450 possess. And those three machines bone stock, against a stock Predator, with equivalent riders, on a flat oval... who wins?

There was some controversy that the sp800 provided a respectable 54.8 HP at 6000 RPM, but the power dips very sharply behind the peak to only 45.2 HP at 6200 RPM. Maximum torque is 51.8 lb/ft at 4800 RPM. After much research by testers, it was proven it is 50hp, not 54. However, the bf750 is definetely 50.1hp here's the link......

Now, let me get to the other guys questions for hp on specific machines.....

- Hah! Finally got one you don't know! <Nevermind the fact that it was a typo. >.< > I meant YFZ-450
Rather makes me glad I chose a Predator. Of course, it was cheap enough for me. And I'm all for that. - Trailboss 330 wouldn't have what, around twenty five horse?

propolaris,
Don't understand where you're coming from???? I was and am not putting down the sp800! Never said it wasn't a pulling machine, furthermore, the topic of pulling hasn't been mentioned, that I am aware of. If it had been, I'd been the first to say it's the king of the bigbores, when it comes to pulling. Someone asked the hp rating of the sp800. I gave it, and someone then said it was more. I then gave the reason there is controversy on the sp800 hp rating. What are you talking about that I don't understand??????? I am a Polaris loyalist, and the sp800 is my most favorite machine of there's or of any manufacturer! Please, enlighten me on what I said that makes you think I don't understand.
