Tall tires will not harm your transmission, however; very aggressive tall tires can place strain upon the CV joints. Under certain conditions the tractive ability of tires such as the Outlaws can exert a force greater than the CV joints were designed to withstand. With that being said consider the Titan 589's or Goodyear Mudrunners.

26" tires have been known to rub on the fenders of Sportsman 500 under certain conditions. Some consider this to be an annoyance and others a problem based upon the amount of suspension travel and rider weight.

you need to decide what you want the tires for ? theres alot of good mud tires as well as good all around tires..i did alot of looking and ended up with 27 inch bi-tri claws..i do alot of mud and water riding as well as some hard pack..these tires are a great mud tire and a good hard pack tire

I've got a 01' HO with 26" Mudrunners on. I thought the front tires rubbed very hard on a good bump. I then went back to the dealer and he gave me (not bought, but gave them to me) some rubber spacers for the front springs. It cut down on the rubbing considerably. Oh, one other thing, when I ordered mine and told them that I wanted the 26" mudrunners on it, they had to send the wheels and tires out to a tire shop to have the tires mounted on the rims. They came back with something like 12 lbs of air in them. Didn't notice this until I was out riding. On the first bump, the tires scraped the fender pretty bad. Dropped the psi to 7 lbs. and have the rubber spacers in. Not too bad now.

26" Mudrunners are a good choice. I had them but switched to stock size Bearclaws for more fast-trail riding.

It all depends on what type of riding you do. For mudding purposes, the bigger the better...usually. If you still want ride comfort and good handling try and stay stock size or 26".

Just my opinion.

Titan 589's. I don't know how they compare to some of the other after market mud tires, as I haven't ridden with any yet. But I had a chance to go out riding with another Grizzly that was excatly the same as mine in every way, except the tires. In every riding situation we were in I smoked him!

It was approximately $325 if memory serves. I thought it was worth it. The only other tires that I've ever had were the stock tires on a 335 sportsman that I used to have. The dealer told me that the stock tires on the 500 HO are of softer rubber than the mudrunners. But I am totally happy with them.

My vote is for the titan 589's. They have great traction in the mud, and a pretty smooth ride. Other mud tires I've had make the quad vibrate too much, but the 589's give a pretty smooth and quiet ride on when(even though not often) on the hard pack surfaces.
