How did you like the mudrunners? How heavy are those tires? Good points? Bad points?

Same questions about the 589's.

I can't make up my mind on which to get either the mudrunners or the 589's.

 

the $325 seems like alot, but im sure thats what the dealers charge. on treadepot.com u can get 4 26" mudrunners for $286. then u would have to pay for them to be mounted, but thats not much. Seems like it would be cheaper to just buy the tires after the sale and install them yourself. guesss the dealers make a large profit on thoes things.

I may not be the best person to answer those questions. The Mudrunners were very heavy. (about 10 lbs each more than 25" tires) Nothing beats them in mud though. I went up hills that totally stomped on my Scrambler4x4 and my buddy's Magnum500 4x4. Amazing traction and look awesome!

I tend to ride fast and hard, and over 35mph the ride suffered a lot. It is to be expected. They just bite into every rut and hole. Steering was made easier but the tires went where "they" wanted to. They are sitting in my garage for the time being...

If you do a lot of mud and rocks they are great...maybe even the best because normal rides are smooth and fun. If you ride very agressive and fast, I would go with a stock size with more agressive treads. Just my opinion.
Others may think differently...

Toad1167 do you have a lift for these MASSIVE 27 inch tire?? If not how much do they rub??

 

Xpedition,I have no lift right now but when I put my winch on I think Ill need it,they rub only when I apply the brakes real hard and over large bumps at high speeds.It surprised me that they didnt rub more than they do.I have not had the rear tires come close to rubbing,so I will get the progressive frt springs or H/L lift kit and use just the frt lift.

I have a 98 Sportsman500 that I am currently running 28x10.5x12 Outlaws all the way around my bike and love them. I used to run 27x12x12 Vamps all the way around with the spacers and did break cv joints. As both tires are aggresive tires the Outlaws are by far the best tires for the mud as far as I am conserned. The 28" that I am running weight approximately 3-4 pounds lighter then the 27x12x12's I was running which takes alot of strain of the cv joints as well as giving back some get up and go.
Like someone else stated in another post on this topic the tall tires will not really hurt your trans., it does in fact place more stress on the cv joints. There are alot of good tires out there (Titan 589, Goodyear Mudrunners, TSL swampers, ect.), buit it all depends on what you mainly ride in and for me that is mud and the Outlaws are great.
