Thanks guys I was riding my 2006 polaris sportsman 700EFI and it is awsome. I have 1 problem Tuesday I was riding it was about 80 degress and I smelt something burning. I looked by the exhaust and the plastic was melting!! I was very mad. I am wondering if the 500 and 800 melted only I thought the 700 did not melt? So I called my dealer and they said I could order a heat sheild from moose. So is the shield good. And will it still melt when I put the moose heat shield on? Other than that thanks so much. When I fix this problem it will be fine. And the fuel gage works good to.
THANKS, RTBOY

That has been an issue. Your dealer should be able to get you some warrenty help if they will take the time. You can beef up the heat tape and shim the floorboard up bout 1/4 of an inch and that will help the air pass through it better. It only gets hot enough when you are going at slower speeds and air is not passing through fast enough to get rid of the heat buildup.

This does seem to be a fairly common problem. I have almost 500 miles on my 06 and no melted plastic yet. It's got heated up pretty good a couple of times too. Seems like it happens @ over 500 miles for some reason? We will see if my luck holds up when the snow flies and I start plowing. All the quads I have had get REAL hot then.
