I have decided that I would like to put a set of 25 inch Outlaw MST tires on my 06 Sportsman 500HO. Unfortunately, they are available only in 25-9-12 for the fronts, one inch wider than the stock tires.

My question is -- Will 9 inch wide tires mounted on seven inch wheels fit without rubbing and without having to use spacers? Also can anyone give me ideas how the wider front tires will handle? I will have stock size 25-11-12 tires on the rear.

9" tires will fit fine without rubbing. They will ride good too. I have 12" wide Mudzilla's on 7" rims, no problems!

 

I have the same queston on my 700. 1 inch wider in front. They will rub on mine and need spacers but not sure on the 500. Look at the gap between the strut and tire. u will need 1/2 an inch for it to fit.

 

if there are on stock rims there real close i would think.

 

Yeah, these guys are right, I didn't realize stockers were going to be used! Sorry!

 

If aftermarket wheels are used what should the proper offset be for the front wheels? I believe that 4+3 is recommended.

Thanks for all the input. I must say that deciding on tires has been kinda difficult. Not too may sets out there that are the same size as stock. Maybe I will have to go with 8" fronts, 10" rears. Has anyone ever mixed and matched different sets of radial tires, say XTRs front, MSTs rear?
