its true, the 700 Carb and the 500 EFI should be spot on in horsepower, of course though, the 700 having a bit more torque.


i had a 2005 Polaris 800 EFI and that had 35 hours and 850 miles on it when i sold it for my predator, never had a large enough issue to warrent taking it back to the dealer. my only issue was the stupid **** belt blew at 350 miles. that was the best quad ive ever owned.

 

I had an s load of problems with my 500EFI related to the ecm. They reflashed it and fixed it.Mine too stalled all the time. Try telling your dealer you need the stall reflash. It is suposed to fix all your other problems too. Good luck. Mine has not had a problem since the reflash. Not one stall. (Knock on wood...)

 

Don't look to me for support! I am in the middle of swapping my '05 800 for an MV. I haven't had any problems with the MV yet. Of coarse, I haven't rode it either![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

The sp500efi has 36hp and dry weight is 715lbs. The sp700 carb has 43hp and dry weight is 756lbs. Therefore the 700 has 7hp more for 41lbs more weight. It has 184cc more and the torque on the 700 is where it really pushes past the sp500efi. In a side-by-side drag race, the 700 will win, obviously. It will accell past the sp500efi through it's whole powerband. The sp700 carb or efi is not as quick as the grizz 660, but it is in fact noticably quicker than a sp500. Now, the sp600 is more in comparison to the sp500. Very little power difference in the two except torque. The sp600 did have a little more torque, but hp was about the same, sp600 has 38hp. The sp600 also outweighed the sp500 by 41lbs, so this is why they were so close in respect to power. If you're 700 carb or efi doesn't feel noticably more powerful than a sp500, something is WRONG!!!

I don't think he was talking about side by side drag race!!!!...He was talking about power to weight on the trail in a normal riding condition!!!!!!.........caper............

 

I realize that, but I've driven them both and the punch of a 700 is noticably different.

 

sorry you feel that way. i have a 06 500 efi and did need 2 reflashs. after this was done i wouldnt trade it for any thing especially a 500 carb. these reflashs are out there. and i am very suprised you cant get a dealer to work with you. hmmm??? i have 600 miles on mine and it gets 25 mpg. mine is a good quad and i am happy with it.

 

POLARIS SUCKS CANT BELIVE THEY ARE HAVING ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH THE 500 EFI. BRP 500 EFI SOUNDS GOOD TOO ME. ALSO IF YOU HAVE ALOT OF PROBLEMS WITH YOUR ATV CAN YOU TRADE IT BACK IN AFTER SO MANY COMPLAINTS FOR A DIFFRENT MODEL ?

 

I have had no problems with my 500EFI (knock on wood), and even the camo has not turned purple[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
