Back fire problem

I have a 86 polaris 250 that when i turn it over and i am trying to start it all of a sudden it backfires really loud!!! what could this be?

It will start to fire up but then it wont and will just keep turning over.

pull your spark plug and check it sounds like its flooding.

maybe at that age it needs a rebuild kit or at least a good cleaning. good luck w/ it got to go.
