Default polaris 700

Hey, anybody know what i should do, my 2002 sportsman 700 keeps sucking water into the motor every time I hit a good size puddle. I went on a poker run and hit two puddles, the first was up to the racks and the second might have been deep as the tires. I can understand the first but not the second. I started watching other riders with polaris's and they hit the same drinks and sped off? It seems my problem is with my atv.

And anyone know what my cross reference for an air filter might be?

in your motor or the clutch housing?
if its in the motor, id check the airbox seal.
#1 reason for water in the motor.

Also check the foam under the tank cover. It should be around the air intake and the clutch intake.

I had a real problem with my 05 700 getting water in the belt housing. It was in the dealership a couple of times. Turns out that on top of the belt housing where the other piece that goes up next to the gas tank was not sealed properly. Could be something to check.

Make shore your airbox plug is in when playing in water, and out when in deep snow.

Good point. I have seen many atvs with that plug missing...

Thanks fellas I will start checking these hints out. First thing, I am going to check is the foam around the tank cover. It has been wadded up since I purchased this used ATV. I have been just pushing it back into place just to get my seat back on.
