Default What to do for break-in???

Well my new buggy is home now. I was just wondering if there is anything I should do before my first ride? We are planning a ride on Saturday that will include lots of water, some mud and hopefully quite a few miles! Should I silicone spray the rad like I have read in here before, should I run it real easy or just run it like I will run it the rest of its life etc etc.. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.

I use the "drive it like you stole it" method, and my fourtrax is 14+ yrs olsd, and my AC has over 1,000 miles, and they both run like new. Of course, after your first ride you are talking about, i would change ALL oils, (front and rear diff, crankcase) to a good quality synthetic oil. My personal opinion is Amsoil is the best

Ride it hard, dont baby it. Deacceleration is real important too. Come off a hill with some speed and let off the gas, it really helps seat those rings. Babing it just polish's the clinder but dosent seat the rings. After running it hard just change the oil and after a few tanks of gas switch to a Synthic oil.

I usually do about 2 heat cycles 1st. Warm it up fully while driving then let it cool down about 10 minutes. Then I drive it like I stole it. Never had any problems with anything "new" I have bought. Brian

I did too. While in Orlando in 2003 on my honeymoon I got sick of having to drive down a half mile just to turn around to come back to my hotel room since there was a huge median in the middle of the road. I finally decided to start cutting across the median in the Pontiac Sunfire we rented. I imagine the alignment was a little out of whack when that 8 nights was over, Brian
