Tire Puncture repairable??
#1
Hi!
I punctured my tire while riding Friday night.
It is on the sidewall.
The cost to replace the tire with the identical
Polaris tire is $150.
I was wondering if this could be repaired instead.
Not sure though.
Here is a photo of it.
Thoughts?

I'm no tire expert but I would guess that is not repairable. I have plugged many punctures in the tread but on the sidewall I don't think you can. Even if you patched it on the inside it wouldn't last because the sidewall flexs and rolls so much.

well i've plug both my pxt tires and my xtr's. i used a comb of 2 tire plugs w/ using tire slime on both tires and have had great sucess w/ them for many miles of hard running w/ no air leakage. you can also have the tire vucanized(i think it's called that) from the inside w/ a hot patch. maybe even run a tube if you had too. i wouldnt throw a good tire (lots of tread) away w/out tring something first.

It's good to hear that it worked for you.
I hate to throw away a brand new tire with no wear.

It won't hurt to try and plug it. I took three hits in my stock PXT right rear on the same trip. One of the puntures has (7), yes, seven plugs in it. I did slime the tires, but so far I've put more than 500 miles on it.

If you have a Goodyear or Firestone near by with an OTR (off the road) shop or a recap shop. They will be able to weld a patch to it.
