98 Sportsman 500, electrical ??'s
#1
I acquired a 1998 Sportsman 500 about a week ago and it is a fixer-upper. It had a milemarker PE-2500 mounted, but no wiring done. He gave me all of the wiring that came with the winch. I have the manual and wired it according to the manual except for one thing. He already had the solenoid mounted under the front rack to the frame. The manual said to locate it close to the battery, but I left it where he had it. After I got everything set up I tested it and ran out about 3 feet of cable and when I hit the "IN" switch to roll it back up it turned about 3 inches and quit. Now the lights don't work............ I don't have a service manual on it yet and still have several other things to do to it before I can drive it (front axle bearings are gone). So anyone know if there is some fuses that can blow or have any idea what happend? I retraced all of the wires and they match what the manual says to a tee.
Any help would be appreciated!!
PS: this is drawing current from a brand new battery.
