It should start and burn the gas in the carb.....then stall.......But hers was leaking a bit at the bowl and was not enough to run the motor.............I put new gaskets on the carb bowls also.......fixed the problem.....thats where the air was comming from...thus draining the main fuel line.................caper.......

Dealer has determined it was a choke problem but they took an brand new07 and let it sit overnight in the cold and it did the same thing as my 06. Just will not crank so they are calling Polaris today to see what to do about it. The dealer says it looks like when cold it get mostiure in the choke and it seizes up. Any thoughts?????

I'd say that fuel starvation is the issue. Mine starts just fine using the procedure I described.

Do you mean that your vacuum diaphram was bad and needed to be replaced? As far as I know, the update only involved a jet size reduction and possible different needle clip position.

Dealer got the diaphram and put it in today and changed the needle position I was told that is what Polaris recommended. Dealer said Polaris did not mention jet reduction. I got the ATV Home and it is not running any better. Still hard to crank and not running well at all. Mechanic showed me a way to take seat off and choke it by hand to get it to start. Dealer and the mechanic is being totally cool they have not charged me a thing and mechanic said this ATV was very puzzling. He said the next step was to see if polaris would send another carb. What do you recommend??? Is there any evidence I can pull off the net to show the dealer on what needs to be done?

Thanks for all your help!
Shannon

PolarisWill posted this in another thread, took me a while to find it.

HERE'S THE FIX...........
If your dealer won't replace the jets and wants to drill holes, keep in mind the jets are under 10 bucks and the labor should only be about 30 bucks or so I was told. I'd rather spend the cash than have 6 holes in my airbox.

Carb Pre 3/7/06--------------------------- Carb Post 3/7/06 (The right one)
Main jet 147.5----------------------------------- Main jet 140
Pilot jet 42.5--------------------------------------Pilot jet 45
Jet needle 4HB42-5-------------------------------Jet needle 4HC57-3
Neddle jet 04-m-----------------------------------Needle jet 05-m

Post 3/7/06 Altitude--------------------Below 40 degrees F ---------------Above 40 degrees F
0-6000 feet ------------------------------------145-----------------------------------140
6000-1200 feet------------------------------- 140------------------------------------135 or 6 1/2 inch holes in top of airbox....(stupid)

According to Polaris the dealer can either replace the jets or (stupid) drill 6 1/2 inch holes in the top of the airbox and you can self adjust by removing the rubber plugs in those holes, again (stupid)

Talked to Dealer the update we did but according to the Polaris tech your serial # range does not require drilling the lid, we moved the clip and did the new needle, diaphragm assembly, the update applying to your machine has been done.

I can get it cranked by manual choking like they showed me. It takes a while to get it running and keep it running like before, but once I can get it warm and keep it running it runs fine. The warm weather was a big help this weekend. Since the updates are on and it is still not running to well what is the game plan from here? Do you think a new carb would be the answer? If so how much do they cost?
