Rear diff and tranny fluid ,not the same??
#1
I look at the back of my 2001 SP500, all I see is the one yellow dipstick. It looks like the rear diff and tranny is all in one unit to me. When I do a search here it seem the rear diff and tranny take two different fluids. Whats fluid does the Yellow dip stick check, the rear diff or tranny? and how do you check the remaining one?

I think I need a Polaris guy on this one. My dipstick for the oil is located on the front left side on the oil tank fill cap. I have the front diff figured out also, but the big back block with the yellow dip stick on the rear end seems to be one unit. The back axles come out of it and the shift linkages also go to it.

If you have a Sportsman the yellow dip stick on the right side if for your gear case. The gear case consists of your trans and the rear wheel drive.
It is all the same fluid. It holds one qt.

No do not use AGL in the front diff, I think your locking hubs are still at the wheels on your 01 so if that is the case you need front gearcase lube which may be named angle drive fluid also from Polaris...
