Default no start

i have a 2003 sportsman freedom series. problem is speedometer had so much sweating or condensation that it went berserk. if i dissconect the speedometer it will crank and run good. but when i hook it back up it will not start. is there a way to jump the wires so that i have 4x4. i dont want to buy a third speedometer. at 250.00 to 300.00 a pop. all 3 of them either leak or sweat . not a very good factory seal on these things
