25's on Hawkeye?

If you want a smoother ride quality go with radials, I'm sold on them. All my quads either have them or will be getting them. Try to stay with a 10" width in the rear as wider widths will rub the footwell lip a bit. The 07 is the way to go if your buying new, many improvements over the 06 although they left the front cv boot guards off the a-arms but the 06 guards will bolt right on.....

I have a buddy who rode my wife's Hawkeye on an all day ride and he liked it. He is 6'2" and weighs 260 and it had no trouble carrying him around. Its no speed demon, and it won't break any acceleration records, but it is a nice bike. I'm putting 25" mudlites on mine this weekend.

How do 25 inch tires fit on a Hawkeye?? It does not look like there is any room. Do they rub at speed or turning? I sure would love some run-flats here in the mountains of AZ with all the cactus. Any pictures??
Thanks

I have 25" Carlisle ACT's on my 06 Hawkeye, the rears rub a little at high speed just on the footwell lip, I think if you stick with the stock rims and a 10" width in the rear there won't be any rubbing at all. My rear ACT's are 25/11/12 being 11" wide they stick out just past the the footwell lip. The new ITP Terra Cross tires come in 25/10/12 and 25/8/12 for the front. This is what I would go with if I were ordering now. The 23" ACT's that come on the 07 LE are almost perfect for this quad I just wish the fronts were 8" wide instead of 7. Not sure if you can buy them anywhere other than Polaris right now but they are out there....
Oh yeah, there's a link in my profile to pics.....

Thanks for the reply. If I ever get my Hawkeye out of the shop, I can wear out the small 22" tires that came on it. I have 33 hours on it and it has been at the shop since September or so. Do you know anything about the Maxxis Bighorns? I also saw that Goodyear makes a radial run flat. So, no rubbing in the front when turning? The area here in AZ is real rocky and I would love to be able to roll over them better.
Thanks

The Bighorns are very good tires but quite heavy compared to others and that will sap power which the Hawkeye is a little weak on. There are no clearance issues at all in the front.
Whats' the hold up with your machine? My dealer gave me the new rear subframe, I installed it and gave him back the old one with a cracked weld. I got the part within a week a couple months back. I did the rejetting on the carb and a couple other minor changes while I had it off. I had a rattle in the clutch support bearing in the belt cover that I cured by installing a shim under the bearing to remove the endplay in the cover. Those are the only problems I've had in 1100 plus miles and were not difficult to correct. I really like this quad, rode it more this year than any of my other machines. I just bought an 07 LE and it's is a much improved machine over the 06. They made a lot of changes, not all good but only a couple things I didn't like being no front cv shields on the A arms and no seat latch, just a couple grommets that pop over two shouldered studs hold the seat on. I ordered the shields and the seat latch hardware. If you can swing it trade for an 07 LE or at least look one over and try to ride it, feels like a different quad.

Well, my sub frame was cracked on both sides. I noticed it in the beginning of August. The shop did not have any openings till the end of September, but they said that I could drop it off early since my warranty was about to expire. I finally took it home on 10/21 only to notice that a front CV boot was split. Brought it right back to the shop and showed them the problem and thought I ordered the part. After a couple of weeks of the part "not in yet" I went away for three weeks. The shop manager called me about my vehicle at the end of that time. I called him back to see when I could pick it up. He said that he needed my approval to order the part. I wondered how the part might have been on the truck coming that day 5 weeks before he even ordered it? So now the part is on order, back order as per Polaris who I spoke to two weeks ago. Polaris said that they should have the part last week, so I should have been at least riding it this week. Go figure. I might call Polaris again and let them know the dealer has issues, or should I just go to the BBB and make a complaint? Other than that, mine always worked great. Funny about the CV boot shields, like they will make money if you cut them on a stick or something, because they will not cover them under warranty like stated. Other manufactures say they do.
I should have never bought this machine. Why would the ?07 not have a seat latch?? I would trade up, except for money lost, and I did a large wiring job with Superbright LEDs before even riding it. Oh well. What other improvements are there?
