As anyone found the Polaris footpeg stance too wide(because of the CVT)that it makes it uncomfortable after long rides?

Jam

I haven't ever noticed the CVT cover being too wide for my comfort.

It is wide enough to feel wierd (at first) but not uncomfortable. Once used to it, I actually like it wider. Puts more weight on your thighs rather than just the point of your rear end. That is probably true mainly for someone of my build (6' tall 190#) but is a plus for me.

If width seems to be a concern, may I suggest, you take a look at the Traxter. When it gets cold out you can actually hear your kneecaps rattling against each other.

Yeah, I think they are too wide in my opinion. After riding a Sportsman this is one area Polaris needs to improve. The other manufacturers have a narrow tranny. Dirt Wheels has made referrence to this also.

I don't know, personally I like the width of the machines. Of course I am a very tall guy, so it suits me perfectly.
The reason Polaris trannies are so wide is because they are the same exact (almost) setups found on snowmobiles. A benifit to this is that there are tons of modifications out there, they just took the ones used on the sleds and put them on our machines.
This why you see few mods avaliable for the other belt drive quads.

The Rubicon is wider, because the gas tank has that stupid shifter on it. So it is wider at the top. SO i think the sp500 is more comfortable, not even to mention the ride

I have a 98 Magnum 500 and feel that it is a tad too wide in the saddle. It is not that the belt cover sticks out too far but that the whole center section of the machine is thick. It is of little concern unless I am standing while riding through technical stuff though, then it seems to push my stance out too wide.
HOWEVER.... this is more of a stature problem than a statistical problem. I guess I'll add this problem to my long list of problems with being short! ( I mean vertically challenged )

I do a lot of technical riding, I feel the wider stance gives me better balance when standing, not to mention it's a lot easier to throw the weight of the quad around. I especially like it on off cambers.
