No I like the floorboards being big they protect my feet.

Not too wide, but the cover is in the way.

Not too wide. Not TOO anything. The ATV has evolved to perfection.

I’m with QuadFather on this one. When I read the article in DW that said the middle on the SP forced a “too wide” stance I thought, “What?” My personal opinion is a wider stance ADDS to the control of the machine, not subtracts. I’m no racer, just a sometimes aggressive trail rider who also likes the technical stuff. If the mid-section of Polaris machines causes a wider stance than “normal” it suits me just fine.

I remeber reading something in dirtwheels about the new scramler 500 2X, and they said the pvt made it too wide to suit riders who ride aggressively. That makes perfect sense to.....Wait a minute, no it doesn't!! I like having the wide foot stance, like most everyone else said, it helps with balance, comfort(my opinion, too), and I think it helps on fast corners, steep side hill-manuvering, and just about everything else, too. In fact, I find warriors and ex's too narrow now, after riding my TBlazer for so long, and don't really dare to take corners as fast on one of them. Besides, you can rest your heels on the front of the floor boards and let your feet hang over(not recommended on tight, narrow trails), and spraul out like your cruisin' down the road on a harley.

Yes. I really didn't feel comfortable standing up on my pal's scrambler...if you see my machine (signature), maybe that's normal...A bit too wide for standing up, doesn't bother when sitted. This was not my biggest trouble with his machine (and I was able to have fun).
I guess it's just a matter of getting used to it.

Actually the Rubicon is wider than the Sportsman. The tranny cover sticks out onto the left floorboard.

I am not sure that it is wider, but even if it was I wouldnt notice it. I think that if Polaris made the tranny cover not overlap the floorboard, no one would ever notice. It seems like when I sit on a SP500, I look down and think "gee I dont have much room here on the left" because that cover takes up floorboard space. That is the only thing that I notice.
