I have an extreme 2500 winch from ebay probably made by the same company Ive only used it a couple times once to plow snow the other to pull out a Polaris 800 sp ( No Im not trying to rip on Polaris ! ) and it worked just fine But some ppl say it has slow line speed Its my first winch so I wouldnt have anything to compare it to>>

They will freeze up if you dont change the grease in them to a good quality grease. The Venom winc is as good as any other, when the grease is changed. They come with a cheap grease that drys up after a couple months and the winch freezes up. Ive had mine for a while now, and it has outlasted my buddies warn winch. Just some good quality synthetic grease. I personally use Amsoil for everything

Ditto ,,,,On the grease ,,I bought an Extreme 2500 and also used it a few times then it slowed down a bit ..No problem opened it right up Synthetic grease went in ...And BAM just as good and fast as the Warn 2500 i have on my other machine ...( Cheap And Good ) ....

Putting a good quality synthetic grease into it cant hurt, and can only help. And its VERY easy and cheap to do, so i would do it before running it anymore

You have to take the cap off by taking out the bolts. The cap is the end with the wires coming from it. Then pack grease around the cylinder inside, and replace cap. Run the winch for a few seconds in and out. It will sound weird for a few seconds, but thats the grease wearing off the contacts, and its normal. Your good to go after that!!
