Default Trail Boss 250 idle problem

Does this happen wether the engine is cold or warm? A bad crank seal doesn't always have the same symptoms. So yes, it may still start even with a bad seal. Just depends on how and how bad the seal got.

One thing it does sound like to me is the bowl level(float level) in the carb is getting lower. Kind of like the carb bowl is getting lower and lower on fuel. As the bowl gets lower with fuel, it leans out the motor which will increase the RPMs which then pulls more fuel which makes it leaner still. Ever start a machine with the fuel valve in the off position and just let it sit their and idle until it ran out of gas? That is exactly how it acts. Is it getting good fuel flow to the carb? Sometimes these things will develope an air pocket in the fuel lines which makes it hard for the gas to keep a steady flow. I used to fight this from time to time on my old Polaris. While it was doing this, it was impossible to ride. I'd have to stop and mess with the fuel line until I'd get it flowing gas and then I could continue on my way.

What happens if you try to ride the quad?

Well guys, I just came in from working with it a little. It was something that was very simple. It was the throttle cable adjustment. I adjusted it down on the carb, and it idle fine now. Thanks to all you guys for the help...I may be back before i get this thing running.....THanks again...

Default Trail Boss 250 idle problem

Well i rode it a good bit the weekend just blowing it out basically because it hasn't been rode in a while. Its running good now after being set up for so long. I got to adjust the idle a little, its idled down just a little to low. And get some tires, the factory tires are dry rotted and leaking air. Other than that, its good as new ha. Thanks to you guys again for helping me get it going.....
