Hi! Possible first time ATVer here. I have been looking at a 1996 Ploaris Trailblazer 400CC. It is an automatic, pull and electric start and has reverse. Seems to be in perfect condition. Low hours. Everything works. I am just looking to do a few trails out behind my house. The trails are a little muddy and rocky, but guys with 300EXs go out there with out an issue. Not really going to do any racing. I am looking for an ATV that has some get up and go and that is fun. Is this something that would work for me? I would think that with 400CC it would have some kick to it. Any pros or cons? Thanks!

 

pros that i can see is that it is a auto., good for those hard rocky trails w/ no clutch to pull. pretty easy mods. will give more then enough power to play good. just make sure the swingarm bushings arent worn out.

 

I ride with a few 300 ex's too,
the only problem i have is getting tired of having to stop and wait for them to catch up, and with the automatic trans you will smoke them in the mud. just keep the hammer down

I thought a trailblazer was 250cc motor

 

there was a few years that they had a 400 2stroke in them. also there was a 500 2x4 scrambler. i have never had one but have seen them. i would say without all the 4x4 stuff that my scrambler has, a 4oo trailblazer would be just dam scary. i would look at the bushing, starter, and brakes. also watch the bearings in the houseing for the rear end. see if there is like any slop when you shake the rear end. the bearings might be going bad and they are a pain to fix.

Well, it looks like the deal might be going through. About what is this worth? It is in near mint shape. I am going to be trading my car trailer for it, so price doesn't really matter, but I am just curious.

 

I had a 400 Explorer 2 stroker 4wd it was awesome, should have never sold it, if you don't need the trailer, I'd rather have the quad, I'd say mint condition $2000 tops.

 

Cool. I don't really need the trailer. I used it to haul my race car around, but am now getting out of racing. All I use it for is to bring home more junk cars that I give up working on and then junk them lol! My trailer is worth around $1500 so it should even itself out. Looks like I am going to go pick it up on Thursday if all goes well.

 

I just recently bought a 400 sport.
Word of advice.
Check the counterbalancer fluid.
Look under the carb right behind the cylinder.
There's a cap with a dipstick.You may have to unscrew it with a flathead screwdriver.
After I got mine,I checked it,and it didn't even show up on the stick.
I have heard of these motors having major engine problems if you run it too low.
Make sure to check all the fluids.
