Default Tether switch hook up on Hawkeye?

No ill effects, that's the only option you have with the way your tether switch works. Sorry for the screwup on my part, I forgot about the tethers being a normaly open switch. The etc switch in the throttle housing grounds the black wire from the cdi to kill the engine if your throttle sticks open so your tether will do the same with the cap off. You don't have to cut the black wire just splice one tether wire into it then the other tether wire has to be grounded. According to the 06 shop manual I have this black wire goes into the speedo head on terminal number 5 so hopefully that connecter is numbered so you can find easily....

isnt the kill switch a simple grounding out system or is the reverse being an open circuit until the switch is turned thus closing the circuit cutting power?

The kill switch is wired in series with the ignition switch which controls 12 volts from the battery to the rest of the electrical system...

Thanks for your help powerslider, it works great. I wanted something on there for my daughter, this is her first atv ( 2007 Hawkeye LE ). I ride a 2005 Grizzly LE and she wants to go riding with us. You really can't beat the options on this quad, this coming weekend will be her first real ride.
