On-demand 4WD

Yeah, it works in reverse, but the rear tires hafta slip for the front to turn(go down to the CHILL OUT.......topic, and near the bottom of the page its explained), but both front tires spin at the same time when its engaged, so one of the front tires doesn't hafta slip for the other one to start grabbin', so I'd say its better than a limited slip.

So yes it does look like the system has something over the others.

Yes the 4WD does work in reverse just the same as it does moving forward with the rear tire spinning over about half a turn causing the hubs to lock and spin. As for is it better then limited slip well "HELL" yea nobody has anything on a Polaris 4WD system thats why Highlifter come up withthe locker system to put in other bikes woith the limited slip. Four wheeles spinning at all time is always better then two, on e in back and one in front.

Well you better look again at the wheels spinning on some bikes with a limited slip 4Wd system when they start spinning in deep mud two wheeles spin not all four and both rear wheeles normally dont spin at the same time with the same amount of force, thats why they call it limited slip. The wheel that needs it the most is the one that spins, and usually that is one in the rear and one in the front. It is not set up that way on a Polaris which no matter what when the 4WD is engaged and the huds engage to spin the front tires all wheeles spin at the same time with equil amount of power not so on limited slip diff. That is why they make a locker system for limited slip bike so they can have a true 4WD with all four wheels spinning with the same force at the same time.
The rear wheeles may very well be spolled together, but that does not mean that they spin at the same time and with the same amount of force with the limited slip 4WD systems.

3TV,
A suzuki (older modle) and some kaws have the rear end with a limited slip in it. I also ride with a friend that owns a Honda 450S and a 300 four trx and both appear to have a limited slip rear end in them. It may be that they are not working properly, but that is what it appears to be. I am not saying that I am right about all this, but I have seen this in some newer bikes. I could very well be wrong would not be the first time.
As for the Sportsman 500 4WD the front tires spin with equal force with each other as well as the rear tires spinning with equal force together. If I stated not to your understanding Iam sorry, but that is waht I ment by all four wheeles spinning at the same time and withthe same amount of force. And I do hope that they improve there 4WD system in the future. And if Iam wrong aabout the other Iam sorry and hey Iam just wrong, but that is what I have seen with some bikes that I mentioned in the top of this post. I know my bike well as I do alot of my own work, but not a whole lot about others.
