I recentlly bought a used 2000 Polaris Scrambler 400 2x4. The problem I am having with it is that it has no power at take off and continues to run sluggish until about half speed, then the bike runs like a 400 should. The plug also goes out and has to be changed about every third ride. I don't have the manuel for this bike but I know I am running the right plug after checking with a dealer. Is this going to be a carberator problem, or what needs to be done to fix it? The bike also has a yellow dipstick is this to check the tranny fluid or engine oil? Any help is appreciated.

 

you probably need to change the jetting on the bike if it fouling plugs...

 

It sounds like someone has had the secondary clutch apart and put it back together without setting the correct pretension. When the pretension is wrong you'll have no low end at all.
