Probably can't go wrong with either the 500HO (carb.) or the 500EFI.

 

As stated the twins are even firing parallel twins, not v-twinsand they are made by Liberty. The 500ho and some of the other singles are made by Fuji Heavy Industries, which make the engines for the Subaru cars. They are as tough as the old air cooled honda engines. Which is tougher...The fuji engines are proven bullet proof work horses! Second to none in power, and reliability.

 

for the record, Liberty is Polaris' motor division

 

theres no question thatthe fugi 500 is the most reliable engine that has been around for ever. and yes they are usa polaris build liberty twin engines. the 600 twin was dropped because the 500 efi is putting out almost as much power.

 

They've had problems with the EFI 500...corrected for 07???

 

500 carb gets my vote. HO and non HO.

 

Yes the 06 had computer problem in the mapping of the EFI but has been corrected. The old 250 motor are also very strong an long lasting for a 2 stroke

 

The one that is best kept.

 

I'd say my 400 motor is pretty reliable..no problems yet

 

I read where the 06 500 EFI had had mapping problems but was corrected. My 06 500 EFI has around 100miles and 30+ HOURS and hasn't missed a lick. Should I be concerned or did I get one where the problem had alredy been fixed
