SP 700 engine heat
#1
went for a nice ride last weekend, about 25 miles round trip. Temp outside was about 50 or so, Typical January weather in Pennsylvanis, not..... noticed that my legs were getting very warm, Is this normal for the engine to throw alot of heat. Bike only has 30 some miles on it. I am wondering how hot it will be in the 90 degree temps of july/august..

My 2004 SP700 kicks out a lot of heat on the right side. It gets directed straight into my calf. There are times during the summer when I purposefully move my right leg around to keep the heat down. Not a fatal problem, but definitely annoying.

Mine gets warm enough here in NC that I can't wear shorts w/o moving my leg around. I'm glad my plastic isn't melting !
They get hot, especially when moving slow.

the big twins (700 and 800) do put out alot of heat. thats why alot of guys think about getting the header pipe cermic coated to cut down on the heat. word for the wise, if you do alot of mudding make sure you keep your radaitor clean front and BACK or it will overheat .
