Default Fianlly made my sp go faster

A while back I posted that my 2002 sp 700 has lost some top end. It has 3700 miles now and has seen alot of use. Last year while riding I lost power and coasted to a stop. After that I would never go as fast as it had in the past. After trying about everything and checking over the whole machine (including new rings) I finally got it going fast again.

The problem was the bushings in the roller secondary. The inner large one had been wallowed out and the outerwas worn alittle. After replacing them both and putting the machine back together I took it down the road and got 60mph again and was able to cruise at 50mph with throttle left to go.

There were little symtoms to indicate this and in neutral and low the belt would clime to the of the primary. I High the belt would never make it to the top. (top speed 45 mph)

Today I was able to clime all the way to the top and "shift" smoothly.

Hard to believe a worn bushing would make the difference.

Thanks for all the help fdrom everyone on here.

I now have a good used sportsman for sale.

glad you got it figued out. sounds like the clutches act just like the ones on the sleds. a little wear and being dirty kills the power/speed.

Yea, its funny nobody ever mentioned them before (being the bushings). I always had the idea it was the clutches if you read my previous posts on the subject.

3 rollers in the secondary, the 2002 700 has the roller.
