Polaris has a manual snowplow. How difficult is it to attach the brackets and necessary hardware?
Can I tip the SP500ho on it's rearend? Or is that just something the people do in magazines.
I want to be safe. I don't want to ruin a new machine.

On my Kodiak, I have to slide the push mount of the plow between the front wheels, then lay on the ground, line up some holes, and stick a pin-clamp in the hole. It's kind of a drag when it's wet out, but only takes less than a minute per side.

 

It's really not that bad, I take my plow frame off in the spring so I dont get hung up in the mud.
I would say it takes me about a hour to put it all back on. THe toughest part is putting the front bracket back on.

I just bought a Cycle Country 60 inch plow and it installs very easily...no need to tip the unit... and I can see that removing the bracket underneath will take about 30 minutes in the spring. Check out their site, the Polaris dealers I talked to all directed me towards the CC unit as opposed to the Polaris plow. I was actually trying to get the Moose set-up, but their mounting brackets were on perpetual back order. I am satisfied with the CC set-up, it works great, even on my gravel drive. Get the 60 inch blade if you have the SP 500, it handles it with ease.

 

Thanks for the comments. It really went together very easily. A couple of hours. I assembled the brackets loose, then after completing the plow assembly and tube assembly, tightened everything. Nice little plow.

Just a word of advice here! Did you ever notice how much ground clearence you loose when your plow mount is on? Did you ever bend the "ears" that hang low? Just make some blocks to put in them when your plow is off the quad. When you bottom out, you will hit the blocks and never bend the "ears" again. A wise old man taught me that trick.
