Default Toolkit for Sportsman 500HO ('05)

How many of you have a toolkit with your sporty?

What do you have in your toolkit?

Can anyone give me a list of tools that you think everyone should carry with their ATV?

Right now all I have is the toolkit that came with the atv, a tire repair kit(with CO2) and a tow strap.

I would like to make sure I have all the tools I'd need for and situation out in the wood.

thanks.

I would suggest adding a cheap ~$5.00 tire plug repair
kit (got mine at Walmart)to your C02 stuff. I was at
GreenRidge, MD State Park that has alot of gravel and rock
and got a side puncture, noair would hold, green SLIME did NOT
work and thank God I was thorough with adding this to my list of
goodies. Plugged it, it sealed added air with my carry on air compressor
from the lighter outlet and boom back in business.

I like Stendori's add on's, I will add a few more to my list
just in case I need a screw driver or pliers.

Good post!

I carry a 12 volt re-chargable spot light also........It can be charged with the 12 volt plug on the quad........This is nice to have now that there is less day-light ......and also help during daytime when you need to check under the quad (it's pretty dark under there) for a quick check of your C.V. boots, sticks, coolant level, and most of all the" BACK" of the RAD!!!!!!! That light really shows the build-up if your over-heating..........Caper.............

Take a first aid kit too! You never know when you'll need it
And P.S. Polaris bike don't need tools. They last forever LOL

Amen,

We needed medical attention for my cousin
after he flipped his SP800 quad doing donuts
(Dumb thing to do). Thank God he wasn't under
it, or he would of been definately medivac'd
out or not here at all.

A first aid kit would of been good for treating
all his road burns (Thrown about 10+ feet)
right arm, elbow up to his shoulder and back.
Now I at least keep it in my truck!

A spare drive belt is a nice addition. The installation will require a 1/4 " ratchet with an extension and a 3/8" socket. A long philips screw driver would be good for carb adjustments as would a long set of needle nose pliers.
Tire plugs, glue and a compressor are also required.

My favorite tool is the Army E-Tool, or Entrenching Tool. You can get a good quality one at an Army surplus store, but watch out for an imitation. These black shovels fold up 3 times so they are very compact and the real ones are tough as nails. It can be placed and locked at a 90 degree angle to did like a pick-ax and has a semi-sharp serated edge that alows it to cut small trees and brush. In fact I used mine last weekend while riding on the river. I had to cut a path. $40.00-$50.00 for a real one.

Oh yea I almost forgot you can bend it and sit on it for and emergency toilet. "the E-tool shuffle"

Hey not really a tool question but
thought it could relate with this
thread, I have a hitch bar for my
hitch receiver for my SP450 no
problem, but the conventional
pins that fit that size hitch bar
are slightly thicker than the
receiver hitch hole on these
Polaris machines.

Do I need some special hitch lock
pin from Polaris? Please advise,
thanks much!
