Default Roller clutch questions

How much does a roller clutch kit help a stock scrambler 500? I was looking at getting a Aaen performance roller secondary with their trail clutch kit for my scrambler. I do everything on my quad. Hill climbing, mud, wide open running on flat surfaces, going through creeks...etc..... Would this be worth the $350 for the complete clutch setup?

You would be better off with the TEAM secondary over the Aaen conversion. But yes it is worth evevery bit of the price.

yes i will agree... the team is a much better choice as far as durability. i have seen the aaen roller break the little roller bearings inside.

HPD offers clutch kits packaged with the team roller.

you will notice a difference for sure.

good luck..

What kind of difference did the roller secondary make on yall's scramblers? Can I do just the Team roller secondary or should I do both the team roller and the trail clutch kit? I just want a better backshifting and upshifting feel to my scrambler. Mine seems to have so much lag compared to my stepdads sportsman 700. When I nail the throttle it seems to take a lot longer to engage the belt than it should.

If that is all you want out of it just go with the TEAM secondary but get a Dalton blk/white primary spring and you will be set.

I took my black/white out of my scrambler to give my girlfriend a bit more range in the throttle (and the ability to lug it over obstacles without the lag) since i was ridin' my pred more, and now got the 'Law comin', the scrambler can finally rest and stop bein' ran so hard. But that Roller is stayin' in there! the thing just works BETTER. The engine breaking is phenominal, in the big-sandy trails in northern MI, you barely have to touch the breaks! and when you hit the throttle, there is no hesitation in back-shift at all, it just hooks up and goes. big improvement if you ask me.

Listen to ftwflh and x, They are the men. ftwflh set me up with HPD also. I got their team roller and weights spring setup. I cant remember the specifics like those 2 can, but if you call HPD and tell them what you want, they will set you up. Mine is there setup for gncc racers with a little higher weight to balance out the engagement point. The diff. is amazing. Engine breaking was a plus, but climbing big hills with slow down points is no problem. The power is there without additional engine rev.....

Now heres a question for ya, If my 07 500 EFI Deluxe has a roller secondary, what are my options for a clutch kit? I'm sure the clutch kits will be different for a non-roller clutch. I want a little higher engagement and a little more low end. Any ideas? Top speed is NOT important.

I was talking to my uncle about getting a hpd kit for my scrambler and now he ordered a clutch kit for his new 800 sportsman x2 he just bought. I'm assuming his sportsman comes factory with the team roller secondary so I'm wondering how much of an improvement he'll actually see with buying a clutch kit.....? But after hearing about everyone's good remarks about the Team secondary I am definitely going to pick one up next week for my scrambler. Thinking about that HPD gncc kit as well.
