Lights Flashing While Plowing and no AWD
#1
I had a problem this past Friday night on my 02 Sportsman 700 while plowing the driveway. Everything that was electrical (lights, pod, AWD light, etc) started blinking and my AWD kept cutting out giving me only rear wheel drive. It didn't seem to happen on Saturday, but I don't think I had the headlights on either. Could I be looking at a battery problem that is getting far too drained or is there something else I should be looking at? My battery light would flash periodically during the summer when using the winch quite a bit, and my plow uses the winch, but the battery light has not been flashing. The pod was also flashing and when this happened it kept coming up with the diagnostic screen the same as when it is first started. I've looked at another post here on the forum and it talked about a fuse block on the frame rail, but I'm not sure where to look.

Swalt, keep me posted on this issue. I have a 2003 sportsman 500 ho and the battery icon flashes after I have the lights on for about 2 to 5 minutes. I have a brand new battery and I keep it on charge. I have posted several times on here and have received good advice but I checked everything in the charging system and it all looks good. Needless to say I am taking it to my dealer at the end of February as I will be going to New Orleans for a conference and will not be able to use it anyway! Good luck and let me know how you make out!

my pod lights and the batt light will flash when i am running my rear kc lights(work lights) at idle.. my batt is 3yr old but it ALWAYS starts fine... i think over the years my winch has put a good strain on it... sorry cant be much help, just babbleing..

i think most of it is because the cgarging systems arent made to take alot of these acc. we put on our bikes and using a winch to plow w/ does put alot more strain on the battery which you dont ride long enough to recharge it which isnt like a car alt. these are really made to maintain the battery and charge a little not alot.

Fixed the problem. Did a search on blinking rather than flashing and now everything is good. Picked up a 20 amp breaker at NAPA.
