Checking "crankcase" oil in 02' scrambler 90 ?
In the owners manual it says to unscrew the plug on the top of the case and look at the dipstick . Well, when I unscrewed the one on my daughter's , it is just a plug. Did the dipstick part fall off somehow or is there another way to check the oil level ?
Also, what do you use for oil in these little engines ? Genuine polaris synthetic trans oil or another brand ? When I drained the oil out, it looks purple . Is polaris oil purple ?
Thanks,
D.

What manual are you lookin at? The Scrambler 90 is a 2 stroke. It does not have a crankcase with oil. It mixes oil with the fuel that is burned. It does have a little transmission gear case that holds a little oil. It should have a small 2 stroke oil resivoir under the seat as well, if it hasn't been removed.

Here is the link to the Parts land diagram. I forgot that the crankcase and transmission are housed in the same structure. They do not share oil, it is seperate cavities. However they do refer to the whole unit as a crankcase. Part # 9 in the diagram is the checkplug. It does not show a dipstick so I'm not sure they have one.
