Nope all you need to do is pull the center bolt and the 6 small bolts out of the cover to replace the spring.

what do you guys think about the white spring,, i am probably wasteing my money$22.00 and time ... probaly should have bought a clutch kit.. oh well .. i want a higher ingagement( i think) to have a quicker take off.. i think if if have higher rpms on engagement i might be more into the power curve..like a stahl convertor in a car/truck.. i am just thinking here.....

i think if i were you i would do some more research on it to see if you really gain anything besides a higher engaugement. alot of times differnt weights are required help. im not sure about on much it really helps unlike a 2 stroke which the power band is differnt. i know by reading differnt post your looking for more power out of your 400, just dont know if you really can get that much. i had the same problem w/ my 335 i used to have. thats why went to the 500 to gain what i wanted. its just a thought. mAybe someone has modded thier 400 and help.

Lil'confused, am I to understand that you
are replacing your primary spring in your
clutch vs upgrading your whole cluth
system with like a heelclicker kit?

$22 for just a spring, hmmm okay
ideas are now starting to form, ehehe
LOL

You have to know what you want out of your machine and have an understanding of how the whole clutch works to get what you want.
