2-stroke 300 xplorer wont start
Time to ask for help.
My son's 300 Xplorer (2-stroke) just quit while riding on the ice saturday.
We have spark, and fuel.
It just wont even try to fire.
I've shot starting fluid into the carb intake, and tried to prime the cylinder with a shot of fuel.
One thing I'm not sure of is there is just a bit of back pressure through the carb back into the airbox, while cranking the starter. Not a lot, but enough to blow some fuel mist back into the airbox where it will puddle up.
He claims it made no strange noises before it died.
Any suggestions?
Thanks ahead of time all

OK I dont have a compression guage, but I was able to remove enough plastic to get my arm in there.
I could hold my finger over the spark plug hole, and when I had him crank it there was some compression.
But it sure doesnt feel like 100lbs. I could keep my finger on the hole on the compression stroke.
This doesnt sound good to me!
I'm guessing rings? or the alignment of the rings.
Anyone else?

you could have seized it, burnt a hole in the piston. hard to tell unless you do a compression test. when you pulled out the plug how did it look? was it white in color, did it have the electrode still on. you could pull the carb off and ther exhaust off and look in to see if there was a seizeure. i would recommend getting a compression test down b4 doing anything to rule out any of the above i mentioned. just a thought.

Any way you go with this, it's not looking good. I guess it could be reeds or even a crank seal but those are really long shots. I think you welded the rings to the piston or you burnt a hole in the piston.
It really makes no difference, the engine is going to have to come down if you can keep your finger on the hole while cranking. Start twisting wrenches.
?????? Two stroke rings can't get out of alignment.
