Default Frozen shift linkage.

Every season I need to take the transmission input spur gear housing and assembly out and clean it. The moisture or leaking water gets in there and freezes the spring into a solid and then presto no shifting. Any body else have this happen? Polaris has a new part number for the cover but can't tell me why or what was done. $65 and you figure out.....
