Post 1997 Polaris Sportman 500 No AWD

The all wheel drive will not turn on my '97 sportsman. The switch it self seems to work but I can read any voltage at the switch and the LED does not turn on.

The problem started when I replaced the battery.

Do you have any suggestions?

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the 4WD system (96 Magnum 425) Does this system tie into the speedo? (I dont see any wires going to the speedo aside from illumination) If I run 12Vdc from the battery to the hub wires sshould the system engage? Thanks!

The speedo had nothing to do with the operation of the AWD until 2000.

So the only input is the red button to ign power so if there is power at the switch there should be power at the hubs at any speed/shifter position?

Thanks for the help so far.

No, the light doesn't come on, so if the bulb is burned out it wont send power to the hubs?

Not from the wirring diagram I have on a 96 SP500 and from "No AWD post" I have read.

Use the "ADVANCE" search option on this site, use term "No AWD" +search "Title only" + catagory "Polaris".

You have alot of reading but you will find your problem.
