I have a 2000 Sportsman 500 that the Speedometer, Odometer, background lights and AWD do not work on.

I started having problems with them last week while I was plowing snow. I knew the battery was weak and about to go. It did finally died.

I replaced the battery and now it starts like a champ, Headlights work good as always and the winch runs sweet but the Speedometer, Odometer, background lights and AWD still do not work.

I thought that these were all somehow related to the battery since I first started having problems with them and the battery at the same time.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

 

the speedo and the awd are linked in some way. maybe the speedo got fried from lack of power from the battery. hard to tell. this seems to be a commen problem. i would check to see if any power going to the speedo hook ups.

 

There is a lengthy thread on this issue which goes over trouble shooting. But the short of it is it is probably the speedo. Just had the same problem when I pull started with a dead battery. I troubleshot and $260 and a new speedo later, all is well.
