Freedom, what do you think of the idea of drilling and putting a grease zerk in the hub? I know I take mine apart every Spring and pack the bearings now since I had the clicking problem that started this thread, sure would be easier if I could just pump the hub full of grease. Are you sure about the seals? I know it has been since last Spring since I had mine apart but Im sure there were seals on the out side of the hubs.

firehawk356 - I do not think you can grease the rear bearings on the 2002 Sportsman. The bearings are factory sealed. Drilling a hole in the hub would not put the grease in the bearing. The only seals are the factory ones on the bearing. I have about 2,750 miles on my 500 and have changed the rear bearings twice. I have changed the bearings on my 400 once.
dontgetbehindme - If the clicking noise is when the wheel is turning, it is probably play in the axel spine.

I must have an absolute mutt of a Sportsman. It wont be untill the end of March that I get the ATVs ready to ride but my 02 clearly has two caged ball bearings and inner and outer seals. My sleds are running way too good to worry about it right now but in a month I will be packing those wheel bearings and Ill take a few pictures.

the bearing cage is one piece. the inner and outer cage that holds the ***** will come out and then the is the outer race the goes in against the *****. then there is a small seal that fits over the outer race. the difference in alot of the bearings i have seen/installed is the quality of the seal, some seal better than others. you can get bearings anywhere from 19.00 to 60.00 bucks apiece. these fit a ford escort front wheel from 92 to 99 i think
