Mine look similar, they have the seal on the outside like that one but they are more open on the inside. You can see the seam of the two halves on that one where the axle would go through is real tight, mine has about a 1/4 inch gap there and can see the bearings. You cant tell in the picture but mine is also open on the inside opposite the end that has the seal on it. Maybe mine were replaced at some point?

The old bearings where sealed. They were bad on both sides and they are what caused the clicking noise I have heard for a while. Looking at it I am thinking that my stick stoppers held mud and dirt around the bearing causing them to go out as soon as they did. IMO-The bearing has the only seals for them. My friend who has an artic cat has the seals in the housing and the bearing is opened. I can't see any possiably way to install a grease fitting in the housing to get grease into the bearing.

I have change 8 of them. Not to bad if you make a puller. Get a 12" piece of 1/2" all thread and a hand full of BIG washers. Put some oil on the all thread and crank the old one out and the new one in. If you have an air wrench you can change the bearing in a few minutes.

This is one thing Polaris could have approved upon. The bearings are sealed ( so they say ) but water, dirt, sand, mud still get in their. If you have to change a cv boot out chances are the bearings will fall apart when you are trying to beat the axle thru the hubs.
I put the below bearings in awhile back . They are half the cost than Polaris for the same exact thing. ( holding up well, I think. I haven't had the axle out so I really do not know ). As soon as I have to pull the axle you can bet the dammm bearings will need changed out.
Napa # FW143 - $ 30.00
or Advacned Auto # 51013 - $ 29.00
Both are made in China or Brazil - ( like everything else )
