Default best mud tires

I love my sportsman but I'm a little dissapointed in my PXT Tires, they look good but I seem to have a lot of trouble in the mud compared to guys with lesser machines . I was reading about the Yamaha Big Bear 400 that was designed for mud and they chose the ITP Mud lites because they are the national sales leader. What tires for mud do you guys recomend?

I just put 27" Maxxis Mud Bugs on my 500 and they work awesome so far in the snow, haven't tried them in the mud yet. There an inch bigger than the stock PXT tires and I didn't need spacers or a lift kit to get any clearance I wen with 10" wide all around on a 12" rim. They look awesome and makes the quad look MUCH better. Just my 0.02 cents.

If your wanting pure mud tires Zillas & Outlaws are the best. Some more good tires that are good for the mud and you can still trail ride with are the Mudbugs,Gators & MST's.

I run mudlites and really like them. They are not quite as agressive as some other mud tires but the XLs have a very tall lug for the mud , a nice center tread for trail riding and are lite which puts less stress on your axles.

I run Mud Lite XL's in front, and Titan 589 in back. 589's hook up well, and Mud Lite's aren't too bad on steering. I noticed big difference when I switched. Don't need 4WD in some instances where I used to. Not a terrible ride with this set up, but definitely harsher than PXT's.

I'm also in the market for better MUD tires.
This thread is consistent with what others
said about the Mud lites, Gators, Zilla's etc.

I would like to know HOW do you know what
to put in front and the back w/r to sizes and
miz matches? Or do you all recommend to
go with all 4 to be consistent?

I agree the stock tires are okay for trail
riding, but mudd'in and snow abit weak.

I run Titan 589s front and Executioners (Kenda) in back. Great combo, Titans are a bit heavy. My buddy runs Titan 589s in back and mudlite in front. Works nice also but Mudlites arent not as agressive as people think.
