Default WINCH- POLARIS HAWKEYE

New to ATVs.

I ride an 2006 Polaris Haweke 4x4, wondering if their are other Hawkeye drivers out their that has a winch installed on their ATV, other than a Warn.

Any recommendation on brand (source), size, install problems/tips?

I've read articles on Gorllia and Venom. Venom offers a winch and mounting plate for a Hawkeye. So does Warn, but to expensive for me. All look the same to me outside/inside, all made in China.

Dawgs,

I sent you a PM with a link to my pics of my 06 Hawkeye with a winch installed. I bought an Xtreme Winch like Venom on Ebay.

Very easy install.

When you get one, PM me if you have questions.

Able to see pics of your atv at home.

My hawkeye is same color as yours, with standard tires.

Did you have to pull fron off to install winch, or able to install from side, etc.

You have to pull of the front silver bumper and where the headlights go, that front black plastic, but it isn't difficult at all. I did it all with my 4 year old son "helping" in a couple of hours.

I just finished mounting up a Venom 2000lb winch on my '07 Hawkeye. If you remove the front black plastic piece and the silver bumper you will find a nice vertical flat piece of plastic on the bottom of the front storage compartment. Made a perfect place to mount the contactor.

FYI, if you have the full front brush guard you will have to cut out the mounting bracket on the left side, (while sitting on it) to make room for the winch motor. It seemed upside down to me, but the Venom mounting plate has the winch hanging from the mount, not sitting on top of it. So far I am happy with the Venom winch, everything lined up, had all the hardware, and looks to be well built. No more than I'm liable to use it I WASN'T going to pay $400-$500 for an ATV winch.

Here are some pics of my winch install

Hawkeye Pics

Easy install. There is an orange/white wire (I think that is the color) under the pod that has a spade connector end on it that works great for powering the winch switch. It is for accessories and is hot when the kill switch and key are both on.
