My local auto parts dealer told me to use a large black tie strap on my cv boot......said alot of people he knows uses them.Has anyone heard of this or has the old man finally LoSt iT?

 

Been there, done that. Use a good quality tie strap and make sure you get it very tight. Never had a problem with them, but I only done it when I could get the right strap.

 

Being in the Electrical field.....Just a tip here......If you do use the tye-strap way.......
Use one that has a stainless steel metal clasp(clip that tightens in the groove) not the cheap plastic closure.....Take it from me.....The plastic cannot be pulled tight enough!!!!!!! ...Caper...

 

you guys talking about zip ties that they use to hold wires together? if so i would trust them too far, but good in a pinch i guess.

 

Its like a regular zip tie yes....only bigger and about as wide as a cv boot strap....theyre pretty tough I use them at work alot I just didnt know if they would hold up on a cv?

application here, to keep r' boots on?

Caper is right they make ones with a ss clasp.I going to use them then I do my rear inside boots.Im sick of fighting them band clamps.

 

They will hold on the small end of the boot. They will not hold long on the big end.

 

Just to make my point clear here.........I did not say they will work on the boot(don't know?)..........I was just telling you which tye-straps are better......If you WERE going to go that route!!!!!!...Thanks...Caper.......

 

Many years ago I had a cop but a zip tie on my hands behind my back and I much say they held good........many years ago
